How to become a Geology major

There are currently about 120 undergraduate majors in the department. Declared Geology majors are provided with a mailbox, and are assigned a faculty advisor. If you want to become a major, it is easier than ever; just follow this guide:

  1. Complete Geology 211 with a grade of C- or better.

  2. Bring your Degree Planning Guide to the Department of Geology, ES 240. Chris Sutton will fill out an Official Declaration of Undergraduate Major card for you and have the card signed by the Chair of the Department.

  3. Bring the signed white card to the Registrar's Office, Old Main 230. Some of our classes are restricted to majors so it is important to become a geology major when eligible.
