Graduate Student Travel

Travel Authorizations

All students must have an approved travel authorization before:

  • Doing any travel on behalf of Western. This includes non-thesis related travel.
  • Purchasing items related to travel, such as airfare, lodging, conference registration, etc.

If you have upcoming travel, please complete the following steps:

  1.  Please schedule a travel meeting with Kate Blizzard to complete the travel authorization process.
  2. Please prepare information for the meeting, including travel estimates such as funding sources, dates of travel, airfare, lodging, and other travel costs.

Reimbursements

Students have 60 days from the date of travel to get reimbursed for travel expenses. After 60 days, the reimbursement becomes taxable income, and they will not receive the entire reimbursement.
