GLT: Unlearning Racism in the Geosciences: WWU Updates

The geosciences are among the least diverse fields within STEM. The conversations that started last summer about racism, justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion should only serve as a starting point for creating an actively anti-racist environment in our department.

URGE (Unlearning Racism in the Geosciences) is a four-month NSF-supported program aimed at facilitating anti-racism work in geoscience departments around the country. The WWU URGE “pod” consists of 14 members: undergraduates, graduates, staff, and faculty.

The URGE pod will host 3 GLTs over the coming months aimed at updating the department on our conversations, findings, and recommendations.
