Invited Speaker Seminar: "Ocean worlds interiors: Chemistry, Geophysics and Habitability of icy moons and ocean exoplanets", Dr. Baptiste Journaux (University of Washington)

Abstract: Icy moons such as Europa, Titan or Ganymede and water-rich exoplanets are two classes of planetary objects that host the largest liquid water reservoir in our universe. These objects are the main focus of astrobiology research with upcoming planetary exploration missions and next generation telescopes. The conditions found in their hydrosphere far exceed the one found in Earth Oceans, thus requiring the use of high pressure experimental tools to investigate their physical state and study their potential for hosting extraterrestrial life. I'll present the current efforts at the University of Washington and NASA JPL to understand the physical and chemical complexity of ocean worlds hydrospheres and what signatures will help us in the search for life in our solar system and beyond.
