CSE Inclusion Mission Statement

The College of Science and Engineering’s goal is to nurture a supportive and inclusive environment and culture by actively building a college of faculty, staff, and students that values and is reflective of the diverse communities served by WWU, promoting best practices sustaining and supporting equity, inclusivity, and diversity, and by investing in programs that support student success.

Community Ambassador Program

There is a critical need to improve communication within the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) between students, staff, faculty, and the administration.

The community ambassador programs aim to foster a more inclusive and equitable space for all. In each CSE department, there is one Student Ambassador. Ambassadors act as liaisons between students, staff, faculty, and the Dean of CSE, and they seek to engage in issues around advocacy, equity, and diversity in STEM.

These Community hours are a time for students, staff and faculty to bring concerns, feedback or questions as it related to equity, inclusion and diversity within STEM. We hope that we, the Student and Community Ambassadors, and the STEM Inclusion and Outreach Specialist, can advise and also guide people to college, university or external resources.
